In my earliest years I was involved with the Catholic church briefly. I have no memories of these years when I was very young. My mother is an atheist Catholic and my father is a non-observant Jew.
In my mid teen years I began attending Port Moody Pentecostal Church. I accepted Jesus as Lord. I was here for maybe a couple of years then I started checking out other Christian denominations.
When I went to Terry Fox Secondary School I began attending Southside Baptist Church however this was only for a short time.
I attended Willingdon Church briefly.
I worshipped at Maple Ridge Community Church in 1991-1992. I thought that the Mennonite denomination was a good denomination to be involved with so I stayed for a time. I was recommended to go to Columbia Bible College by the youth pastor here.
I matriculated at Columbia Bible College from 1992-1997 studying Youth Ministries. I regularly attended chapel services, classes and local churches. I also did volunteer work with youth in a local church and an internment with Youth for Christ.
When I began matriculating at Columbia Bible College I worshiped at Bakerview Community Church and also was a junior youth leader for a couple of years.
In my third year at Columbia Bible College I attended Northview Community Church going to Roaring Twenties and Sunday services. I also attended during my fourth and fifth years at College however I also went to another another Mennonite church at the same time.
In my fifth year at Columbia Bible College I began attending South Abbotsford Community church going to the Sunday services.
After my hasty departure from Abbotsford I did not attend any church from 1997 until 2004.
I began attending church again at the Loft Ministries in Aldergrove. I was here for a little while. When I went to work in the Alberta Oil Patch I discontinued going to church due to working remotely in the Alberta wilderness. After my wife ended our relationship I began attending The Loft Ministries until I went to jail.
After I was arrested in 2007 I was in pretrial custody where I went to a Catholic service once a week however there was nothing really spiritually edifying in the prison. No service or bible study of any kind. In federal prison I was practicing Judaism. I would regularly conduct Sabbath services, accumulated a large library of Jewish literature, met with a Rabbi once every five weeks and then met with a Cantor every five weeks.
When I was on parole in 2011 I attended Beth Israel synagogue in Vancouver. I really enjoyed it there. I went to Sabbath services every week. I began a conversion process to Judaism. The congregants were very friendly and inviting. I felt tremendous hospitality here. The rabbi who was in charge of my conversion encouraged me to seek out a Christian denomination that was not anti-Semitic given what I told him happened among the Mennonite. I took his advice and when I returned to prison after being recalled I returned to Christianity.
When I was released from Prison at the end o my sentence I attended Surrey Alliance Church.
After I moved to Maple Ridge and began attending Christian Life Assembly where I have been since 2014. I attended this church for several years however when I participated in events and services I would wear tzitzis and a kippah. After the pandemic was officially declared over I began earnestly transitioning to Judaism.
I discovered such movements as BDS and Christian Peacemakers Teams being supported by my church and many other churches, denominations and institutions. I realized that I will one day face a personal dilemma about choosing between supporting Israel or Christianity and the enemies of Israel. I officially decided to leave Christianity some time ago and have been in contact with several synagogues as well as Rabbis online. As my funds increase in the future I will be able to more earnestly pursue conversion.
